WASHINGTON - Residents of the United States (U.S.) believe the country's declining prestige in the world. The majority of citizens ask the U.S. government to stop interfering in other countries' affairs.

This is revealed in a poll conducted by the Pew Research Center institutions. At least 70 percent of respondents said declining U.S. prestige in the world.

As reported by the BBC on Wednesday (04/12/2013), approximately 52 percent of respondents asked the U.S. government to stop interfering in other countries' affairs. The figure was the highest since 50 years.

Even so, most citizens are optimistic with the U.S. position in the world economy. Approximately 77 percent of respondents were satisfied with the performance of the U.S. trade with other countries.

The survey was conducted in the period October-November 2013. Pew Research Center interviewed 2,003 respondents.
