- Prime Minister ( PM ) of Australia Tony Abbott has sent a reply
letter to the President of Indonesia regarding the issue of phone
tapping . But Australia 's new leader declined to issue a letter in return.Affirmed Abbott , he is committed to ensuring that relations between the two countries remain strong . Abbott even thanked the President for being a very good friend for Australia .
"
Obviously there will be good days and days better . However my
determination is to ensure that this relationship continues to improve
and I am always grateful to President Yudhoyono , who has become a very
good friend for Australia - one of the best friends we've ever had , " he said .
This was said by Abbott told reporters in Sydney as reported by ABC News , Saturday ( 23/11/2013 ) .
The
MPs and former high officials of Australia has urged Abbott to
apologize to the President , or at least give an explanation of these
intercepts .
Australian
Opposition Leader , Bill Shorten , for example , Abbott urges PM to
take a positive step given the seriousness of the wiretapping issue .

The seriousness of this problem , or feeling offended perceived our
Indonesian friends , means that we must redouble our efforts to return
to a positive and constructive dialogue between our governments , " he
said .
Similarly, the Green Party leader , Christine Milne said the PM Abbott need to call the president directly . If not , the tension between the two countries will continue to increase .
