The
successful launch of Mars makes
India as the first
Asian country that
is able to reach the red planet, and as a "ambition"
for China to
do more.
The plan to send the Mangalyaan, or "Mars craft,"
on a 680 million kilometer journey into Mars' orbit has given further credence
to claims of an intensifying -- although officially unacknowledged -- space
race developing in Asia, with potentially dangerous ramifications.
"I believe India's leadership sees China's recent
accomplishments in space science as a threat to its status in Asia, and feels
the need to respond," says Dr James Clay Moltz, professor at the U.S.
Naval Postgraduate School, who saw the development of competition in science, especially in
the field of outer space among countries in
Asia.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh announced the 4.5 billion
rupee (US$74 million) mission on India's Independence Day last year.
But not everyone in the support, Economist Dr Jean Dreze
believes this mission is not the time because it take a big fund , while the
state still requires development and more funding to build more home.
"Much as I admire India's Mars mission as a scientific
achievement, I am unable to understand the urgency of getting there," he
told CNN.
Even a former head of ISRO, Dr. G Madhavan Nair, has criticized that the efforts are
a waste that
should not be
done, and it is something that is not in the plan.
He told CNN's sister network CNN-IBN that while he was in
favor of exploring Mars, "my contention is that it has to be done properly
with complete set of instruments and with proper orbit."
For
the last
50 years India provides all of the funds for the prosperity and the livelihoods in
the areas of technology, such as
satellites for communications
improvements population.
India is very motivated because of the
rapid increase experienced by rival
China, since China
launched a manned spacecraft, he was convinced that
Asia is the next region
with the development of space competition, and
will be in one after another by other developing countries
such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Korea south, Vietnam
and Taiwan.
